Alibek Kushekov was born in the city of Aktyubinsk (Aktobe).

Since December 2018 to the present day, I have been Acting  Chairman of the Board-Rector of the Atyrau Oil and Gas University named after S. Utebayev by the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 1980 after graduating from high school, Ientered the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute named after V.I.Lenin in the specialty of “Machinery and equipment of oil and gas fields” and received a diploma in engineering with the qualification ofmechanical engineer in 1985.

Upon graduation in September 1985, I was sent to the Moscow Institute of Oil and Gas named after I.М. Gubkin as an intern researcher with further admission to the graduate school.

 From October 1987 to October 1990, I studied at the graduate school of the above mentioned university with the successful defense of a candidate dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences and the approval by the Higher Attestation Commission under the USSR Council of Ministers on October 16, 1990.

After that, I worked on my specialty at Aktyubmashservice LLPfor a year.

Since July 1991, I began my teaching career at the Guryev branch of KazPTI named after V.I. Lenin (now the Non-Profit JSC “Atyrau Oil and Gas University named after S. Utebayev”), where I gained experience in higher professional education in the preparation of highly qualified personnel in the oil and gas industry from the position of teacher to rector.

In September 2000, I changed my work into the production activities, where I held managerial positions at big enterprises such as Embamunaigas, KazMunaiGas, Zhigerмunaiservice.

In November 2018,  I was confirmed to the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at the invitation of the Board of Directors of Non-Profit JSC “Atyrau Oil and Gas University named after S. Utebayev”.
