KIRSTEN NEWITT

Kirsten Newitt is Associate Director of Ergon Associates, a London-based consultancy that specialises in gender, labour and human rights. She has more than 15 years’ experience in delivering research and advice on gender and employment to clients that include the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the European Commission, the International Labour Organisation and UN Women.

Kirsten has provided technical assistance to major energy companies in Serbia, Vietnam and Kazakhstan to build organisational strategy on gender equality and to support the development of women’s leadership training and mentoring programmes. Beyond the energy sector, she has also worked on women’s employment and leadership with companies in manufacturing, transport, extractives, construction, finance, and agribusiness in Asia, Europe, Africa and South America.

Prior to joining Ergon in 2008, Kirsten provided advice on labour and occupational health and safety to government agencies in Australia and Fiji, and practised as a lawyer in Australia. She holds a BA(Hons) / LLB(Hons) from the University of Melbourne.
