ALIYA ILYASSOVA

Dr. Aliya Ilyassova is an international gender and labour market specialist with more than 20 years’ professional experience in the field of social and economic development, poverty reduction and labour migration.

She has worked with a range of UN agencies, including FAO, UNDP, ILO and UN Women in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The breadth of her professional career has given her a deep understanding of human rights and gender issues in both rural and urban environments and extensive experience of stakeholder engagement with respect to national and local government, private sector and civil society. She holds a PhD in Statistics and has coordinated and conducted several expert studies across a range of human development subjects, involving detailed analysis of statistical data and the development of technical reports.

In 2013-2019, Aliya has acted as the national expert advisor on Ergon Associates’ work in Kazakhstan for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on projects to strengthen equal opportunity with companies in the transport and energy sectors, including with Samruk-Energy in 2018-19.
