Leonid Shenets
First Deputy Minister of Energy
Republic of Belarus

Born on 4 January 1955 in the Elany village (Svetlogorsk district, Gomel region, Belarus).

Education:

In 1978 graduated from the Belarusian State Polytechnic Institute (now – Belarusian National Technical University) with a degree in electric power systems.

Academic degree:

Candidate of Technical Science.

Professional experience:

From 1984 to 1990 was the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Energy Efficiency under the Government of the Republic of Belarus;

In 2006 – 2008 was the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Belarus;

From 2008 to 2012 worked as the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization – Director of the Department for Energy Efficiency;

From 5 August 2013 until the present – First Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Belarus.

Awards:

Medal “For Labor Merits” , Certificate of Honour of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus,  Certificate of Honour  of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Letter of Gratitude from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus.

Leonid Shenets made a significant contribution to the creation of public policies in the sphere of energy and energy efficiency. He has worked on the improving the state energy efficiency and on the state energy supervision and technical regulation development.

He is responsible for satisfying state economy demand for energy resources and development fuel and energy balance. He also supervises matters related to development and implementation of public policies in the areas of energy saving and efficient use of energy resources.
