Regulations of art competition “Youth- Energy- Future”, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Kazakhstani oil

Date and place: 15 July- 30 September 2019, the Republic of Kazakhstan.

MAIN INFRORMATION

In the framework of the 120th anniversary of Kazakhstani oil and the Year of Youth “KAZENERGY” Association in cooperation with Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs announces an Art Competition “Youth- Energy- Future” for young artists aged 14-18 from all regions of Kazakhstan.

Participants are advised to familiarize themselves with the history of formation and development of the oil industry in Kazakhstan and express their attitude to the following topics through art:

  • “Faces of oil industry in Kazakhstan”
  • “Landscapes of oil regions”
  • “Oil and gas of the future”

Organizers: “KAZENERGY” association together with Kazakhstan National Federation of      UNESCO Clubs.

With the support of: UNESCO Clubs of Kazakhstan.

Aim of the competition: the unification of the creative younger generation of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of the 120th anniversary of Kazakhstani oil and the Year of Youth celebration by searching for new approaches to the sustainable development of the industry though creative expression.

Tasks of the competition:

  • Introducing the younger generation to the history of oil industry in Kazakhstan;
  • Strengthening in the minds of young people the importance of preservation of the environment and promotion of the sustainable development;
  • Developing a culture of responsible energy use by improving energy efficiency;
  • Understanding the meaning and the importance of developing traditional sources of energy
  • Raising awareness among the younger generation about the development policies of “green” and renewable energy in Kazakhstan;
  • Developing creative potential of the younger generation in the framework of the Year of Youth in Kazakhstan;
  • Ensuring the continuity of the best traditions of education and development of young citizens in the world community;
  • Broadening participants’ outlook, the ability to demonstrate art, skills, imagination and individuality;
  • Popularization and promotion of children’s and youth’s creativity;
  • Encouraging all forms of cultural diversity and expressing them at the national level;
  • Introducing new modern directions of creativity to participants;
  • Development of friendly relationships between children of Kazakhstan from different regions;
  • Exchange of experience and improvement of professional skills;
  • Attracting the attention of the wide international community and mass media representatives to the creativity of young people in the framework of the Eurasian Forum “KAZENERGY”;
  • Contribution to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals through the involvement of young people in the educational and creative process.

Stages of competition:

Art competition will consist of three main stages:

I. Application and dispatch of works. It is necessary to send the work and the completed application forms of participants (Annex 1) to the organizing committee before September 1, 2019. 

Deadlines: July 15 – September 1, 2019.

II. The work of the jury and the determination of the winners.

Deadlines: September 2 – 6, 2019.

III. Awarding of the winners and the final creative exhibition “Youth – Energy – Future” at the KAZAKHSTAN ENERGY WEEK 2019 (KEW-2019) and the XII Eurasian KAZENERGY Forum in Nur-Sultan City.

Deadline: September 24-27, 2019.

The winners of the contest “Youth- Energy- Future” in three nominations will be invited for the solemn ceremony at the final exhibition of the competition in the city of Nur- Sultan, where they will have a unique opportunity to become honorary participants of KAZAKHSTAN ENERGY WEEK 2019

All participants of the competition will receive a “Certificate of Participation”, finalists whose works will be selected for the final exhibition – “Finalist Diploma”, finalists’ teachers – “Gratitude”, and the winners will be awarded with “Diplomas”, valuable prizes and a unique trip to the city of Nur-Sultan City for the award ceremony and exhibition.


CONDITIONS OF THE COMPETITION:

Young artists aged 14 to 18 have the right to participate in the competition.

To participate in the competition, it is necessary to fill in an application (Annex 1) and send the work before September 1, 2019 to the address: Almaty, 050046, 159 Abay Avenue, Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs.

Topics of work:

  • “Faces of oil industry of Kazakhstan”
  • “Landscapes of oil regions”
  • “Oil and gas of the future”

Categories of performance technique:

  • Graphics;
  • Painting;
  • Arts and crafts (panel): artistic ceramics, artistic processing of wood, metal, leather, batik, tapestry, etc.;
  • Stained glass (acrylic glass);
  • Art photo.

Artwork size: A-1 (60 x 85 cm) and A-2 (42 x 60 cm)

No more than three works in any category of performance technique is accepted from each participant.

Notes:

  • Non-standard approach and use of modern technologies is welcomed while creating artworks.

WORK TOPICS:

Each participant is entitled to participate in all nominations of interest to him.

Nomination 1 – “Faces of the oil industry of Kazakhstan”

Competitors are invited to delve into the history of the formation and development of the oil and gas industry in Kazakhstan through familiarity with key and significant personalities of the industry. The nomination carries the goal of preserving for future generations the history of people who may not be familiar to the general public, but whose work, experience and dedicated work have made a key contribution to the development of the oil and gas sector of our country, as well as people who have dedicated themselves to this profession, and working there till this day.

The organizers expect to see portraits of people, historical figures of the industry, or images of workers in factories and enterprises of the oil and gas industry, made in various techniques of execution (painting, graphics, decorative and applied arts, and others) at the discretion of the author. The work can be represented as a diptych, triptych, etc. An original approach is welcome.

Nomination №2 – “Landscapes of oil regions”

The Republic of Kazakhstan is a country with a rich natural heritage and reserves of all types of resources, including oil and energy resources. Participants are invited to show the natural wealth and uniqueness of the oil region of Kazakhstan (Atyrau, Mangistau, West Kazakhstan and Aktobe regions), as the location of the main reserves of oil and gas resources of the country.

Organizers expect to see the natural and industrial landscapes, as well as other thematic compositions, reflecting the unique features of the oil-producing regions of the country, performed in various techniques and genres.

Nomination №3 – “Oil and gas of the future”

The contestants are encouraged to show their personal vision of the development of the industry within the framework of the state program “Digital Kazakhstan”, the purpose of which is to minimize the negative human impact on nature and other priorities based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, fully supported by Kazakhstan.

The organizers expect creative works reflecting the dynamics of the industry’s development during the existence of the industry and the vision of the future development of the oil and gas sector of Kazakhstan as part of digitalization.


CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION

  • Originality;
  • Complexity and meaning transfer;
  • Creative approach to the implementation of ideas;
  • Mastering the basics of artistic mastery;
  • Quality of artwork.

EXPECTED RESULTS

  • Promotion of ideals and principles of UNESCO in the field of education though arts education;
  • Identifying, developing capacity and supporting the creatively gifted generation of the country in the framework of the Year of Youth of Kazakhstan;
  • Increasing the participants’ knowledge in the field of new technologies, sustainable development, energy sources and the environment;
  • Coverage of more than 2000 talented young artists of Kazakhstan;
  • Raising awareness among the population of Kazakhstan on issues of scientific and technological achievements, history, traditions and current trends in the development of the oil and gas industry in the country;
  • Organization and holding the final exhibition of finalists’ works in the contest “Youth- Energy- Future”;
  • Holding a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the competition with participation of officials, delegates and participants of the XII Forum “KAZENERGY”.

SUBMISSION OF THE ART WORKS

  • Entries are accepted until September 1, 2019. They can be delivered in person or sent in advance by mail to the organizing committee of the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs marked for the contest “Youth – Energy – Future” at the address: Republic of Kazakhstan, Almaty, 050046, 159 Abay avenue.
  • The works submitted to the organizing committee should be: in the original, without any frames, should not be rolled up, but packed in an envelope (kindly requested when sending work by mail, take into account the possibility of damage on the way). Damaged work will not be judged by the jury.
  • Each work must be accompanied by an electronic questionnaire filled out and printed by the participant (Annex 1).
  • The participant’s form must be duplicated by e-mail – art.kazfuca@gmail.com
  • Submitted works will not be returned. Exclusive rights for the further gratuitous use of paintings and works are transferred to the organizing committee represented by the “KAZENERGY” Association and Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs.
  • The participants in the competition confirm that all copyrights to the submitted works belong exclusively to them, and the use of this information does not violate the property and/or non-property rights of third parties;
  • The participants of the competition confirm that the works submitted for the competition have not previously participated in other similar projects/promotions;
  • Contest participants give consent to the publication and further use of the submitted works on the selection of the Contest Organizers.

OTHER CONDITIONS

  • Participation in the competition is carried out without an entrance fee and is absolutely free
  • Travel (train tickets), food and accommodation of the winners in the city of Nur-Sultan during the final events, as well as transfers of delegations will be at the expense of the organizers;
  • The accompanying person is the winner’s teacher/mentor, or in the case of a replacement, the responsible teacher;
  • By taking part in the competition, the participant of the competition confirms the obligation to comply with all the rules and conditions of the competition, which are specified in this Regulation;
  • All personal and/or other information provided by participants must be true, accurate and not misleading in any way;
  • For providing candidates with inaccurate or false information for participation in the competition, the Organizers are entitled to exclude from the general selection;
  • By taking part in the competition, the participant confirms his consent to the placement of personal data provided for participation in the video and audio files, as well as photo materials in the media.
