Ulrike von Lonski joined WPC in 2005 as Director of Communication. The WPC is dedicated to scientific advances in oil and gas, technology transfer and promoting the sustainable management of the world’s petroleum resources for the benefit of all. Ulrike organises its triennal Congress in close cooperation with the elected host country, most recently in Istanbul in July 2017.
She sits on the board of the Energy Access Platform with the OPEC Fund for International Development, IPIECA’s Communications Task Force of, the SPE HSSE Sustainability Committee, and is Managing Editor of the Gender Report with BCG and a number of educational industry guides. Ulrike was appointed as EXPO 2017 Commissioner in March 2016.
Ulrike has been closely involved with the WPC Youth Committee engaging young professionals in the global oil and gas sector. She was on the Executive Board of the 2nd WPC Youth Forum in Paris in 2009, presenter at the 3rd Forum in India in 2010 and senior advisor to the young professionals organising the 4th event in Calgary in 2013 and the Future Leaders Forum in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
After studying Business Administration at Cologne and Saarbruecken in Germany, Ulrike started her career in 1992 with the Adam Smith Institute in London. She built up the Institute’s finance and energy portfolios for the Former Soviet Union and was promoted to Director of Energy and Investment Promotion, before moving to the International Trade and Exhibitions Group in a similar role for several years. Having worked with Russia and the FSU on a number of high-level industry meetings and senior government conferences, Ulrike also has experience working with the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
Ulrike has been awarded the “Kazenergy” Medal for her contribution to promoting international cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
